MEET THE BARSOTTI FAMILY

Dominic grew up learning how to farm from his grandfather and spent much of his childhood and teenage years on his family’s ranch in Greenfield, California. Turning his childhood experiences into a career, Dominic now works in agriculture in the Salinas Valley. Krista grew up in Southern California and moved to the Monterey Peninsula to pursue her career in education. She currently teaches reading and math intervention at a local elementary school. Dominic and Krista have always wanted their sons, Lucas, Briggs, and Beck, to grow up on some open land while learning to be a part of something meaningful. Fireline Farm is the realization of that dream - a family project, a hobby, and a home.

OUR FARMING PHILOSOPHY

We believe in farming in a way that respects and partners with the earth, rather than simply using it as a resource. Our goal is to produce nutrient-dense food while positively contributing to the health of our planet on behalf of future generations.

In order to align our farming methods with our beliefs and goals, we aim to learn from and support earth’s natural systems by:

  • Supporting soil health through no-till methods and the use of cover crops, which will in turn sequester atmospheric carbon

  • Reducing reliance on synthetic inputs, and instead reconnecting the cycle of land and animals through rotational grazing and composting

  • Maintaining and enhancing our natural spaces within the farm to encourage quality and sustainable biodiversity

Whether it be food, flowers, or crafts, we believe that the product can only be as good as the process. We hope to share a bit of our farm and lifestyle with our community while contributing to the ongoing conversation surrounding regenerative farming and sustainable living.
